Get to know your therapist.

Hi, my name is Marianna

As a competitive powerlifter, I have my fair share of experience with injuries and all sorts of aches and pains from the extreme overload.

Therefore, naturally, in the last 10+ years, I have always been researching how to make my performance better and how to do my pre- and rehab more efficiently. Just as many other coaches will tell you one of the key elements for a great performance is to make recovery better. I started to add extra mobilisation, SMR and muscle activation sessions to my weekly routine. It was a huge game changer, but it was all self-thought and sometimes these sorts of activities just add extra fatigue to the equation.

Unfortunately, finding the right physios or massage therapists is not easy, and these services can be pricey. Sometimes there is a long waiting list. Personally, I am not happy to wait three weeks or so when I really need some care. Manual therapy is hard work; understandably, some therapists try to avoid doing so and replace it with other, less taxing treatments. Also, there is nothing worse than realising you managed to pick an inexperienced or unqualified therapist while you are under their hands.

All these led me to the point in 2022 when I decided to pursue formal training to become a therapist myself.

I hold a Level 4 Sports Massage and Remedial Therapist Diploma and I am a Strength  Conditioning &Rehabilitation BSc Student at Gloucester University.
